The Mayor of Gateshead visited our school today and presented us with the Gateshead Fairtrade Status Award.
The Mayor met with Mrs Fox, Mrs Hetherington, the school council and the head boy and girl. The children explained all of the things that our school does to support Fairtrade such as our Fairtrade shop, coffee mornings, 'Fairtrade Friday' and especially how we have learnt so much about Fairtrade in our lessons.
The whole school assembled in the hall where we enjoyed meeting 'Mr Mayor' and found out about his many responsibilities.
We felt very proud as our award was presented to the Head boy and girl.
Here at St. Alban's we put our faith into actions by encouraging ourselves and others to buy Fairtrade products which helps people in different countries across the world.
Thank you for your support.

I think it was really good that the Mayor came to our school and gave us the Gateshead Fairtrade Award.

I thought it was great that the mayor of gateshead came to our school to award us with the fairtrade award. At the end I asked him a question about what jobs does he have to do. I was goingto ask him if he knew the prime minsiter but I thought it could have been a bit on the silly side!
