The 'Chain Story' has been sent to Spain

Children in our Year 5 and Year 6 classes worked on writing the second chapter of the Comenius 'Chain Story'. It has been completed and has been sent to Spain. Our friends in the Spanish school will write chapter three and will then send the story to Italy.

The 'Chain Story' has arrived in England!

The chain story is travelling from Finland to England to Spain to Italy to Turkey and then back to Finalnd. Part one of the story has been completed by Finland and it has arrived in England for St Alban's School to write the next chapter.

Project meetings

Project meetings take place in each country. Teachers from each school travel to the meetings. They discuss the project and the products which we are making together. They organise a timetable of work to be done. They exchange correspondence and work from the children. They also exchange gifts. A special part of the project meetings is when teachers spend time with the children in each school. This is always a very enjoyable time for everyone.

Our Comenius Project

Our Comenius project is called 'Words, Sounds and Pictures in Europe'. It is a two year project running from September 2007 to July 2009. We have partner schools in Finland, Spain, Turkey and Italy. During the project we will be corresponding with each other and we will make some products together. These include a CD of songs and an art calendar.

Multilateral Comenius partnerships are cross-curricular projects that involve at least three schools from at least three European countries. They enable staff and students in the UK to work together with partners in other Comenius eligible countries for the duration of the two year partnership. In addition to learning more about other cultures and gaining an insight into other teaching practices, staff in schools who have taken part in projects have reported increased enthusiasm and motivation from colleagues and children alike, often resulting in raised standards across the curriculum.
