Anti-bullying wristbands were on sale during anti-bullying week, 14th and 18th November, to raise money for the charity anti-bullying alliance. We raised a total of £103. Thank you to all who bought them.

At St. Alban's school we are so lucky to have excellent volunteers that come into school when needed. Recently we embarked on a Comenius cookery fortnight where all children had the opportunity to cook recipes from Turkey and Finland. This was a roaring success, with children tasting foods they never imagined they would. Thank you for all of your help! The recipe books are still available to buy at £2 from Mrs Reynolds.

Year 1 reenacted the Last Supper and listened to the words of Jesus. They know the priest says the same words when we celebrate Mass.

We had fun trying on the firefighter's clothes.

Key Stage 1 children performed their nativity play, 'Hosanna Rock' were absolutely fantastic. Well done children.

Year 1 celebrated a baptism yesterday. They learnt the words that the priest says as he pours the water over the baby's head; I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

In Citizenship Year 1 are finding out what children around the world like to eat. We studied photographs and thought of lots of questions we would like to ask children from other countries.

Year 1 watched the Save the Children dvd, 'What Makes Me Happy' and discussed what friendship means. In pairs they acted out how friends treat each other. They remembered that all children have a right to play.

Year 1 have been learning about Pentecost.

Year 1 and 2 spent the morning at Saltwell Park. The classes are working on a School Linking Project with children from Felldyke Primary School where they are learning about diversity. Today, the children had fun playing in the park and making new friends.

Year 1 have been finding out about Road Safety. The 2 boys above, demonstrate crossing the road safely.

Year 1 are learning about the work of some of the special people who help in church. Children took on the roles of priest, reader and altar servers.

Year 1 have been working very hard in Numeracy.Today, we have been practising counting.

Year 1 and 2 were amazing today when they performed their Nativity play, Jesus' Birthday Party. The acting and singing was fantastic.

Year 1 had a lovely time making vegetable soup in class. They helped to prepare the vegetables and mixed the ingredients together.

And now for the best part of cooking...... eating! Yum!

Today, the whole school wore blue to make a visible commitment that we are not prepared to tolerate bullying.
In our Pastoral groups, we wrote prayerto ask God to keep us safe and happy.

Our school is taking part in Switch Off Fortnight. In our Citizenship lessons we are learning that wasting energy is very bad for the environment. We are all making an effort to switch off lights that are not needed.

Year 1 are finding out about Baptism. They listened very carefully to the words the priest uses then they acted out part of the celebration.

Year 1 have been investigating length in Numeracy.

There was lots of designing and building at lego club.

Year 1 have been having lots of fun at the Teddy Bear's Picnic.

Year Reception and Year 1 had a fantastic time making and eating pancakes. Yum! Though, it was possibly Mrs Straughan who broke the record for the number of pancakes made and tossed!

'Morning Reading' has started in Year 1. Parents come into school to read with children and to share literacy activities. As you can see, the children are enjoying this! More pictures in the gallery.

In Year 1 we are discussing the celebration of Mass.We enjoyed role play to help us understand the words and actions of the priest.

Year 1 have been finding out about Baptism. They know it is when we are invited to join the family of Jesus.

We made pictures using Paint.

Year 1 made fruit salad. We had a great time.

Year 1 and 2 were visited by Mr. Skinner from The Dog Control Service. The children found out how to behave responsibly with dogs and really enjoyed completing activities in their Dog Control booklets.

Year 1 are very happy to be working in their classroom again.

Barnaby is having a lovely time in Finland!

Barnaby Bear has been packing his bag this week as he is due to fly off in the half term holiday. We wish him well on his journey and look forward to his return as he brings us information about Poland.

As part of our art work we have been weaving and have made these wonderful Valentine cards for the ones we love.

Barnaby Bear likes to travel! He has been travelling around the world gathering information that he has brought back to Year 1 for us to study.

We have been learning about 2 digit numbers and how to count in tens. In this activity the children were counting their bags of golden treasure.

As part of our Celebrations topic Year 1 have been finding out about the Mass. We used role play to learn about the different parts of the celebration.
