At St. Alban's school we are so lucky to have excellent volunteers that come into school when needed. Recently we embarked on a Comenius cookery fortnight where all children had the opportunity to cook recipes from Turkey and Finland. This was a roaring success, with children tasting foods they never imagined they would. Thank you for all of your help! The recipe books are still available to buy at £2 from Mrs Reynolds.

Today, everyone in school wore a hat to raise money for the Haiti Eathquake Appeal. There were some really funny and funky hats; Mrs Fox wore a Zorro hat and Mrs Reynolds look very summery in a huge sombrero! In classes, we found out about Haiti and said this prayer together:
Dear Lord
We pray for the people of Haiti.
Comfort those who hurt and be with those who are sad.
We pray for food, water, shelter and healing for the people of Haiti.
Help us to share what we have with our sisters and brothers
as they begin to rebuild their lives
Amen

Year 2 visited Whitehouse Farm for our Spring trip this year. We had a fascinating day observing farm animals such as cows, sheep, goats and pigs. We also had the opportunity to see and handle other creatures including lizards, snakes, rats and mice. The children and parents had an exciting day looking around the farm, feeding some of the animals, and gaining a better understanding of how animals are cared for. As expected, the children were very well behaved throughout the day.
Year R are visiting Bill Quay Farm on Tuesday 18th March.
Year 2 are visiting Whitehouse Farm on Tuesday 18th March.
We hope you have a great time and we can't wait to hear about what you did and saw.
Year 2 visited Pelaw library on Tuesday this week.
The library organised a special afternoon of activities to help the children to prepare for World Book Day which is on Thursday. Activities included a quiz, stories, a talk by the librarian, and an opportunity to choose a book from the wide range of books available. The children enjoyed learning more about the library and seeing how they could make greater use of it.
Join us in the hall at 2.45 pm on Thursday 6th March for a Lenten Liturgy led by our Year 2 children.
I was delighted at the number of parents who were able to attend the meeting about the Year 2 assessments. Hopefully it helped to resolve any queries about the assessments arrangements. If you have any further queries, please contact me.
