Recently we embarked on a Comenius cookery fortnight where all children had the opportunity to cook recipes from Turkey and Finland. This was a roaring success, with children tasting foods they never imagined they would. Thank you for all of your help! The recipe books are still available to buy at £2 from Mrs Reynolds.

In Year 3 we have been studying India during our humanities lessons. We decided to end our topic with a celebration day. We tasted lots of lovely food, tried on Indian outfits, made model Taj Mahals and paper plate peacocks. We all had a fantastic day. For more photos, see Year 3 in the gallery.
We would like to thank Jaipur Indian take away on West Road, Newcastle for donating some food. It was delicious.

We wrote our own play scripts and made sock puppets. We performed our plays for the class.
Children in Years 3 and 4 planted hyacinth, daffodil and tulip bulbs with Mr Seaton. Hopefully some may even be winning entries in the Gateshead Spring Flower Show!

We made our own Natron with bicarbonate of soda and salt. We used this to preserve tomatoes. We are going to observe the changes in the tomatoes to see if the tomatoes will be preserved in the same way that the Ancient Egyptian mummies were.

Year 3 went on the Metro to Newcastle last Wednesday. We visited the Hancock museum to look at the Ancient Egyptian artefacts. We saw a real mummy and wrote our names in hieroglyphics. It was great fun!

All this week, we have been looking at myths and legends in our Literacy lesson. In our lesson today, we used drama to act out an interview between a St. Alban's TV presenter and Theseus and asked him lots of gruelling questions about his fight with the minotaur! We definitely have some budding TV presenters in our class!

Year 3 and 4 put us all into the 'Christmas mood' as they treated us to a selection of Christmas songs and carols. We were wowed by solo performances from Isaac, Nikhil, Faye, Emily and Rachel.
"I really loved the Year 3 and 4 singing the 12 days of Christmas. They were so good at all the actions!" Gemma Bainbridge.
"I really loved Rudolf the Red Nosed reindeer!" Nathan Young.
For more pictures, view the Christmas album in the Gallery.
This week, children from Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 are visiting Gateshead City Learning Centre. Children are going to explore new technology. Year 2 and 3 are using a digital video, animation, digital music and digital photography. Year 4 and 5 have the opportunity to create an animated slideshow and to broadcast live on the internet as part of Gateshead CLC Radio.
Year 3 visited Seven Stories. We became story catchers as we explored the original drawings in the galleries and took part in all of the fun activities. We dressed up as famous, mischievious characters to help us to develop our imaginations.
We used other costumes to invent some characters of our own and began to write our own stories.
