Recpetion had a fantastic time dancing along to all the Christmas songs!

Anti-bullying wristbands were on sale during anti-bullying week, 14th and 18th November, to raise money for the charity anti-bullying alliance. We raised a total of £103. Thank you to all who bought them.

At St. Alban's school we are so lucky to have excellent volunteers that come into school when needed. Recently we embarked on a Comenius cookery fortnight where all children had the opportunity to cook recipes from Turkey and Finland. This was a roaring success, with children tasting foods they never imagined they would. Thank you for all of your help! The recipe books are still available to buy at £2 from Mrs Reynolds.

For our Special Places topic in RE, Reception Class explored St Alban's Room. Everyone liked the coloured windows and we know that they help us to track the seasons of the Church's year.

During June we celebrate Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month by finding out about different communities. Mrs Fenwick brought Tina and Johnny into Reception Class to tell the children about their lives. We enjoyed playing with our new friends, looking at models of trailers and stencilling scrollwork.

Reception Class went on a Spring hunt today. We were looking for signs of new life. We found lots of Spring flowers and buds on trees.

Congratulations to the Reception girls who completed the Junior Run. They inspired us to chalk out a track and have a go in school.

Reception class have settled very well into school and are taking full advantage of our outdoor space for their learning.

Come rain or shine the outdoors holds endless learning opportunities. Watch this space . . . .

To prepare for our Friendship Funday on Friday Reception Class watched films about friends around the world. They made a Friends poster and thought about what friendship means. Children are wearing non-uniform on Friday and donations received will be sent to Save the Children.

Reception Class discovered that the cross on a hot cross bun is to remind us of how Jesus died. They learnt the song and sampled the buns. Not everyone liked them, but some children thought they were delicious!

Year R had lots of fun building snowmen.

Our Nursery and Reception classes performed their Christmas Nativity today and were spectacular. Not a dry eye in the house!

At the start of our Advent RE topic, Preparations, Reception Class thought about how important it is to prepare well every day. They made timelines to show how they prepare to come to school. They had to think carefully about the order of events - don't put your shoes on before you get out of bed!

Today, the whole school wore blue to make a visible commitment that we are not prepared to tolerate bullying.
In our Pastoral groups, we wrote prayerto ask God to keep us safe and happy.

Reception Class visited St Alban's Church as part of their work on Baptism. They looked at the font, the altar and the lectern.

Reception have been investigating the weather. They have listened to the rain, explored materials, made sun reflectors and waited for wind to fly their kites! For more photographs visit the gallery.

As part of the topic Ourselves we have set up a hairdressers in our classroom. The children have been very busy experimenting with different hairstyles!

Reception have made animal sculptures based on the Spanish traditional tale "The Little Vain Mouse"

Reception visited Tynemouth Toy Museum and discovered lots of old toys from the past.

We headed to the beach for lunch and had a sandcastle competition.  Look in the Gallery for more photos of the trip.

Year R worked with Dora Bear learning how to cross the road safely.

During the Easter hoidays a new interactive whiteboard was installed in the Reception classroom. The children returned to the surprise and have been busy having fun using it.

Year Reception and Year 1 had a fantastic time making and eating pancakes. Yum! Though, it was possibly Mrs Straughan who broke the record for the number of pancakes made and tossed!

Following the story of Hansel and Gretel we built a house from cake, biscuits and sweets. All the children were involved in the making and EATING of our sweet house!

During our investigation of sticks as a house building material, we explored ways of joining using glue, string, tape and blu tak.

As part of our topic 'Homes' we have explored the houses made by the three little pigs.

Well done to all Nursery and Reception children who performed so well during their Nativity play.
The acting and costumes were siperb!

Year Nursery, Year Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are all putting the finishing touches to their Nativity plays. We can hardly wait to see them!

The children in Reception class have started full time school. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning.

In Reception Class we listened to the story of Jesus and the children using Godly Play. The children then explored the story using the Godly Play figures and a storyboard. See our Gallery for more photographs.

Every Wednesday, our Foundation Stage have a Book Day. It is wonderful to have so many of our parents joining us to share stories.
