We really enjoyed tasting a variety of breads such as focaccia, various seeded brown buns, pretzels, almond croissants and cheesy topped buns too! Everyone had their favourite flavour for a variety of reasons! We can’t wait to make our own bread buns!

Richard, That History bloke, brought in a variety of artifacts into Year 5 last week. He told us about a local miner, Thomas Bennett, who unfortunately died while working down a mine. We investigated his life using a variety of sources, the census, artifacts and photos of the time. It was very interesting.

Some of our Y6 children met other youngsters, aged 7-18, from across the Trust to lead us all in a prayerful reflection of the Stations of the Cross. This was live-streamed into all schools in the Trust and helped us reflect on Jesus’ journey with His cross.

Year 5 and 6 have had an absolutely great time at Gateshead Stadium on Tuesday morning, raising money for CAFOD alongside St Wilfrid’s Primary School. Y4 are beginning to explore Thomas Bewicks work. He created many images of birds including intricate detail. We used view finders to help us focus in on various parts of birds which Bewick has created, we used pens to draw including as much detail as possible.

We have really enjoyed writing our biographies on Wilma Rudolph and putting our information together as a poster. Year 3 have been exploring what magnets can do. Magnets have a north and south pole so we experimented with putting poles together. Opposite poles attract each other but same poles REPEL. Then we sorted metals into magnetic and non-magnetic. We’re now going to investigate how magnets are used at home too.

Today in Year 1 we have been learning about ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’ symbols. We took our learning outdoors to play the ‘Hungry Aligator’ game.
